Photo & Video Associate
Primary Purpose: To enhance guest experiences through excellent customer service, professionalism, and effective communication.
Essential Duties:
- Keep photo and video areas (lab, sales area at retail video rooms) and retail store clean and safe for our guests.
- Meet and greet guests at the check in area, platforms, life jacket area, or other designated areas.
- Separate guests into groups based on interactive swim groups
- Give guests program orientations
- Escort and assist guests to the life jacket area.
- Enter the water with guest to record or shoot the designated behaviors.
- Follow procedures in order to keep cameras safe from water or extreme weather conditions.
- Keep an acceptable conduct within the platform and all over the facility according to the general rules and codes set by each facility.
- Invite the guest at the end of the program to go to the viewing rooms.
- Encourage guests to purchase the photo and video products as well as other services provided by the facility.
- Provide general information to the guest at the facility
- Assist all other departments involved in the day-to-day operations of the facility, as needed. (Retail, Check-in, Reservations, Training, Maintenance, and Food and Beverage).
- Be available to guests to communicate and identify their needs and address their questions or concerns
- Effective oral and written communication skills along with ability to work under highly demanding situations
- Develop and print the pictures for all interactive and miscellaneous services provided at Sea Life Park Hawaii
- Follow procedures in order to keep the mini lab equipment safe and operational according to the manufacturers safety standards
- Stock and file all negatives generated in the facility
- Report any requests for equipment service to the supervisor or manager
- Encourage our guest to purchase photo and video products as well as other services provided by the facility
- All other tasks as assigned by Sea Life Park Hawaii Management
Working Conditions: Indoors & outdoors; Photo lab, office/video rooms, Program platforms (water and underwater).
Work Schedule: Flexible-may require additional hours beyond schedule to meet business needs.
Equipment Used: Photographic cameras, video cameras, photo mini-lab units (printers and developers), DVD recording stations, advanced editing nonlinear equipment and software, standard office equipment.
Physical Demands: Frequently standing and walking; may require some lifting up to 20 lbs.
Communication Demands: Requires communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing; giving clear instructions or directives to others; ability to provide information to bi-lingual guests
Skills/Knowledge: In addition to meeting the mental, physical and communication demands listed above, requires good interpersonal skills, basic technical video graphic and photographic knowledge, and customer service principles.
Education/Experience: Prefer similar work experience and/or dealing with customers in a related industry; skills and ability to perform essential functions of the essential duties of this position, however we will train.
Senior Marine Mammal Trainer
Seeking an experienced trainer for a fast-paced and challenging position at Sea Life Park Hawaii. The candidate must possess a demonstrated mastery of operant conditioning principles and the ability to effectively apply this knowledge with marine mammals. Must have previous experience training marine mammals in the following settings; basic medical husbandry behaviors, show performances, interactive programs with pinnipeds and cetaceans. This position requires the ability to function and excel in a team setting by providing mentorship to junior staff. The applicant must have good oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interface with our guests and visitors while conducting interactive programs.
Minimum Qualifications: 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in the capacity as a marine mammal trainer. Knowledge of marine mammal husbandry skills; food preparation, sanitation, and basic marine mammal biology and physiology.
Desired Qualifications: Training experience exceeding the minimum qualifications, 3+ years of experience supervising trainers and support staff, show production experience (development, training, and production), and experience with interactive program development and problem solving. Salary: Commensurate with experience. Security Guard
Primary Purpose: To provide security services as scheduled to ensure the safety, health, and protection of visitors, staff, and animals. To be a park ambassador of the “Aloha Spirit” while providing excellent customer service to all guests. Observe for the proper operation and security of Park facilities and mechanical structures.
Essential Duties:
- Conduct periodic inspections of Park grounds, structures, and operating systems once every hour and document findings in the daily security log.
- Promote Aloha and excellent customer service throughout all areas of the park.
- Provide surveillance of Park grounds and report any suspicious circumstances to the proper staff or authorities for corrective actions.
- Monitor fresh and saltwater pumps to ensure proper water levels in all tanks and pools are maintained.
- Perform daily inspections of all fire prevention apparatuses to ensure that they are properly maintained and functional in case of an emergency.
- Perform periodic inspections of all animal exhibit areas and report any animal care situations to the Curator immediately upon being noticed.
- Provide security assistance in all emergency situations when called upon to do so.
- Provide security escort to Finance personnel when transporting currencies to safe room and banks.
- Monitor park staff to ensure their safety and correct or prevent unsafe working conditions. Address and/or report visitor and staff safety and behavioral concerns to appropriate staff or departments.
- Provide traffic and crowd control during special functions and events.
- Monitor and evaluate entry and exit from park grounds by guests and staff. Restrict unauthorized entry after hours without prior approval of management.
- Oversee non-park staff working after hours to ensure safety of animals and facility.
- Knowledge of Park, Park products, show times and general information and ability to communicate such information to visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Perform other duties assigned by Lead person or any of Sea Life Park Hawaii’s Management Team.
Other Duties:
- Traffic control, weather monitoring, monitoring of animal conditions, tank conditions and water levels.
- First Aid Care giver
- Disaster preparedness
Working Conditions: Indoors/outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
Work Hours: Security is on duty 24 hours a day and is normally scheduled for 8 hour shifts.
Normal Schedules: Flexible, may require additional hours beyond schedule to meet business needs.
Equipment Use: Flashlight, cellular phone, binoculars, telephone, traffic flares, walkie-talkie, company vehicles and emergency generators.
Mental and Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry it 25 feet without assistance; able to be CPR/First Aid certified; ability to work under day/dark conditions; must refrain from any physical confrontations
Qualification Requirements:
Skills/Knowledge: Must be able to foster positive customer relations, being courteous and non-authoritative when dealing with the general public. Candidates for this position must pass a pre-employment test and undertake a two (2) week on the job training to ensure he or she is capable of performing required security duties satisfactorily.
Education/Experience: Prior work experience in the security field; any combination of education and experience that provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications in order to perform the essential functions of this position.
Communication Demands: Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
Salary Grade and Range: $9.00/hr
