Education Docent
These volunteers assist with guest and student outreach programs, staff the Conservation Education Cart, participate in community outreach, curriculum and program development, and help with animal meet, greet, and feeds. Other responsibilities may include preparing props and supplies for classes, organizing our library, facilitating special events (i.e. Earth Day, Honu, Independence Day), and tending to various other responsibilities.
Reef Life
Volunteers may assist and monitor guests as they interact with the marine invertebrates, juvenile stingrays, and juvenile sea turtles housed in the Discovery Pool. They may also monitor food intake of adult sea turtles housed in the Turtle Lagoon. Other responsibilities may include rockwork cleaning, sand filtering, food preparation, water quality testing, invertebrate collection, and other assorted tasks.
Bilingual Interpreters
These Sea Life Park volunteers assist guests and translate public lectures/animal programs into a variety of languages. Other responsibilities may include proof reading translated materials and various other tasks.
Seabird Hospital
Volunteers may assist in the intake, care, feeding, and release of sick or injured seabirds. Other responsibilities may include cage cleaning, medical treatment assistance, food preparation, and various other duties.
Volunteer requirements:
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age
- Commit to a mutually agreed upon schedule
- Be comfortable with public speaking
Accepted applicants must:
- Commit to the agreed upon schedule
- Attend all required training courses and lectures
- Pass the training examination and routine performance evaluations
- Commit to a minimum of 8 volunteer hours per month
